WHAT IS IMITATION HARD ENAMEL?
Different from imitation hard enamel (new enamel), the soft enamel colors are not completely filled in the recessed area.
Due to soft enamel process is not required filled in colors before stoning and polishing, the production time is shorter and price is cheaper than imitation hard enamel.
NOTES:
Antique finish is not working well on imitation hard enamel finish. The enamel area dyed by black color, surface will not be shinny.
To avoid colors mixed, enamel area must be surrounded by metal lines min. 0.3mm.

Mould:
Molding the metal surface to form the design
Outline cutting:
- Cutting molds are made separately, then cut to the exact outline of the design
- Outline cutting moulds may be required, depending on the complexity of the design
- If a center-hole or cut-out is required, an additional cut-through mould must be used
Coloring:
- Synthetic enamel is carefully hand-filled one color at a time by using different sized syringes.
- Drying
- To prevent defects, a high degree of skill is required in orer to keep each color and the correct amount of enamel in the proper area
Baking:
The metal piece is baked at approximately 230℃ (450℉) for 12 to 15 minutes
Stoning & Polishing:
- Wait until every piece has cooled
- Finish the surface with a carborundum stone until all excess color has been worn away.
- Polish the surface is then polished until smooth and shiny.
Attachment:
Solder attachment glued on to the back of each piece.
Plating:
Plating now can be processed. The quality of plating varies with the time that metal is soaked in the plating liquid.

You may find that there are some badges in our website have similar looking but have been named differently in soft enamel or imitation hard enamel. You may have a question in your mind: what is the difference between them?
The most difference between soft enamel and hard enamel is the texture.
Soft enamel is laid in the recessed areas and put through ovens to bake it hard. When dry the enamel clings to the edges and recessed below the metal die line. This gives the soft enamel the ‘bumpy’ feel when you run your finger over the top.
Imitation hard enamel – also called new enamel, it raises the enamel higher after baking so can be polished flat to the same level as the metal die lines. The enamel gets a polished look to a very high quality. For the flat surface, client can choose to add printing onto the surface as well, but no epoxy is available for new enamel.
Due to plating process, there are some plating colors which are not available for imitation hard enamel such as brass plating, imitation gold plating and rainbow plating.

For small quantity orders, we offer transfer in express such as DHL, UPS, FedEx, TNT or EMS. For large quantity, air cargo and sea cargo are also available.
